CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - This week's extreme cold has kept plumbers busy repairing broken water pipes.
Plumber Tony Bedore told 22News, when it's really cold for more than 24 hours, people must pay close attention to their water pipes.
"Any draft indications, anything along those lines, you have pipes here, they'll start to run slower and you'll notice a lack of heat," said Bedore. "Once the damage is done, the first thing you want to do is shut the water off. If you shut the main off, you'll cut the water off and it'll stop the flooding."
He recommends the first faucet you'll want to turn off is the one outside.
