AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP.com - Family, friends and fellow servicemen said good-bye to Chicopee native, Air Force Staff Sgt. Karl Nawskon on Saturday.
The 40 year old Iraq war veteran and cancer victim was buried following the military funeral service at Agawam Congregational church.
Family members told 22News; Sgt. Nawskon joined the air force after a tour of Army duty during the early days of the war in Iraq.
The Chicopee serviceman was married 13 months ago, when he was diagnosed.
Nawskon was given the nick name superman, because doctors had predicted he would die much sooner than he actually did.
