SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - After hovering near $4 dollars in many places, gas prices have dropped six cents in two weeks and now the national average is $3.86. Here at the East Columbus Avenue Pride in Springfield , a gallon of unleaded is $3.91 for a gallon of regular gas.
Industry experts predict the price of gasoline could fall another nickel in the next week and drivers say that's good news.
Tal Sarig of Leverett told 22News how dropping prices would help him. "Me and my friends are buying a car and then traveling around the country. It would definitely make our trip be longer and see parts of the country that we wouldn't be able to see otherwise."
If prices drop to $3.80, it would be the first time since October 2009 that drivers would be paying less than they did a year before when the average was $3.86. If you know where to buy gas for less than the average price, tell us by visiting the 22News pump price patrol page here.
