WEST SPRINGFEILD, Mass. (WWLP) - On Friday, 22News discovered Mohegan Sun and Palmer are on pace to sign their host agreement in mid-July.
On Monday we got an update on the progress between West Springfield and Hard Rock .
Hard Rock and West Springfield are getting closer to signing theirs and it could be done sooner than the one in Palmer. In a statement sent to 22News, Hard Rock says it hopes to hold a city wide vote on the project in late summer or early fall. If that is the case, the host agreement could be signed sometime this month.
Below is Hard Rock's statement sent to 22News:
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino New England has been involved in a productive process and dialogue with the Mayor and city government officials on the Host Community Agreement, which includes engaging independent consultants across a variety of disciplines, such as engineering, environmental, economic impact and traffic.
Discussions between Hard Rock and the Mayor will accelerate during the coming weeks and should be completed soon thereafter. We remain on track to coordinate with the City Council on setting a referendum date, which may be in late summer or early Fall by residents of West Springfield. Hard Rock is excited to conclude an innovative, responsible and transparent agreement. We are committed to providing West Springfield financial support, as well as initiatives to improve the quality of life for local residents and create new economic opportunity for the entire region.
