SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police have arrested two men and a woman that they say had been selling heroin and stolen guns in Springfield's Mason Square area.
Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Luis Cabrera, Edwin Nunez, and Wendi Young were arrested after police caught them making an illegal gun sale Tuesday evening.
According to Delaney, narcotics detectives had been investigating the three, and had determined that they were selling "large amounts" of drugs as well as stolen guns.
Detectives set up a surveillance on Andrew Street Tuesday evening, in which they allegedly saw the three involved in the delivery and sale of a handgun. Nunez and Young were arrested, but according to Delaney, Cabrera drove off and tried to enter a home on nearby Dawes Street.
In all, some 175 bags of heroin and two .380 caliber handguns were seized.
Cabrera is charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, illegal sale of a firearm, possession of ammunition, failure to stop for a police officer, driving with a suspended license, carrying a firearm without a license, violation of a drug-free school zone.
Nunez and Young are both charged with illegal sale of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition.
