CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Disadvantaged local high school students got an unlikely gift on Sunday.
They were given a dress to be able to go to the prom.
The high school kids thought they were just participating in a fun fashion show, but thanks to the Elms College Business Club and a local bridal shop and thrift store, the girls were able to keep the dresses.
30 dresses in all were donated.
Chicopee High School Student Dorthea Polk told 22News she's so thankful that now she'll be able to go to the prom.
"I was very happy to find out that I was able to keep the dress. I did it just to help out J.A. and to have a fun Sunday afternoon. So to be able to keep a beautiful dress, that just made everything better," Polk said
Proceeds from the fashion show were donated to Junior Achievement of Western Mass.
