HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A tasty sign of spring has arrived in downtown Holyoke, where the 30th annual Farmers Market kicked-off on Thursday.
The market, which is one of a growing number in western Massachusetts, features farmers from Agawam to Amherst selling their produce.
Linda Overlock of Holyoke told 22News, she's been coming here for years.
"Because the vegetables are fresh, they're not shipped anywhere, It saves on transportation costs and pollution," she said.
Customers who want fresh, local, and organic fruits and vegetables, as well as potted plants and other locally-grown items, can go to the area of High and Suffolk Streets on Thursdays from 11:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.
The Holyoke Farmers Market continues until October 26.
