HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Workers hope to have that huge sinkhole in Holyoke repaired by Thursday.
Mike Burke, the project engineer for Holyoke’s Wastewater Treatment Plant told 22News, a seventy year old sewer pipe deteriorated so badly, it undermined a section of Essex and Elm Streets that caved in late Monday night.
No one was hurt when the street gave way.
The huge hole closed a section of the busy street all day Tuesday and Wednesday.
The street is still blocked off.
