HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - All throughout Holyoke and its neighborhood communities, people are buzzing about Mayor Morse's flip-flop on a casino in the city.
Holyoke's Ward 7 Neighborhood Watch held their first meeting of the year Wednesday night. One of the main topics on the agenda was the new senior center set to open Monday on Pine Street.
However, it wasn't hard to find a member who had something to say about a potential casino in their neighborhood, after the mayor's anti-casino campaign.
Wesley Kulig of the Ward 7 Neighborhood Watch, told 22News, "Although it brings some jobs I think it takes more money out of a poor community which we are. I'd prefer to see business, factories, offices, warehouses, and office space, whatever."
The proposed Holyoke casino site would be at Mountain Park, located right off Interstate 91 between Exits 17 and 18; about halfway between downtown Holyoke and downtown Northampton.
