SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Rick and Dick Hoyt are from the Eastern Hampden County town of Holland.
For 31 years, Dick has been pushing his disabled son across the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Dick told the "Today Show" that all he could think about doing was running faster toward the finish line.
This year was no exception.
The Hoyt's were thinking about retiring from the marathon.
But after the events of the past week, they've decided not to stop now.
"Rick and I were going to wait a couple weeks after this Boston Marathon to decide if we were going to run again and we definitely are going to run again next year. We will be stronger and I know the marathon will be stronger, and I know there will be so many people running. I don't know how they'll be able to handle that."
The 21st annual Team Hoyt 5-k Road Race will be on May 23rd in Hopkinton, Mass.
Proceeds go to benefit the Hoyt Foundation.
