SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of foreign born Springfield residents delivered a message to Senator Elizabeth Warren this weekend.
They marched to the Federal Building in downtown Springfield on behalf of immigration reform. A number of groups including the Pioneer Valley Central Labor Council had organized the Saturday afternoon rally.
Yvette Martinez of Springfield told 22News newcomers like her husband are very vulnerable.
"My husband was detained unfortunately; at any given moment he can be deported," said Martinez. "We need a trust act because some people who are undocumented need the safety to be able to call the local police if they are in distress."
The hundreds who made their voices heard at the Federal Building later brought their message to the steps of Springfield City Hall.
