WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) - 22News is finding out more information on the murder of 24 year-old Wilbraham native, Amy Lord .
Police in Boston believe she was abducted Tuesday morning, and then stabbed to death in the broad daylight. On Wednesday around 4 P.M., a woman spotted Lord's body in a wooded area of Stony Brook Reservation--which is located in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood.
Investigators say Lord was likely on her way to the gym before the kidnapping. Surveillance pictures show the young woman was forced to drive to several ATMs to withdraw cash. Police are hoping that released surveillance images of Lord--getting out of her Jeep--will help lead them to whoever was behind the wheel at the time.
The news of Lord's murder sent shock waves through her hometown of Wilbraham.
"I was physically sick to my stomach when I heard her name," Tim Fortin of Wilbraham said.
"There's no explanation; it defies explanation. She wasn't doing anything wrong", Bill Bickley.of Wilbraham said.
Just hours after finding out about the young woman's death, hundreds of people gathered at Gazebo Park for a candlelight vigil to remember their beloved friend, neighbor, and classmate.
It was an emotional gathering with lots of tears, but it was a respectful tribute to the 24 year-old, who was described as being a positive light.
"Amy was unbelievably well loved. She touched many lives....she was always very kind, very sweet. Her energy was just intoxicating", explained Fortin.
"She was just a great kid--everyone's going to tell you the same thing. She really was an angel...really special", Bickley stated.
Amy Lord was a 2007 Minnechaug Regional High School graduate. In 2011, she graduated from Bentley College in Waltham, and at the time of her death, was living and working in Boston.
As the investigation into Lord's murder continues, we'll continue to update you with any new information both on-air and online at WWLP.com.
