SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Months after a massive explosion that could be felt for miles, all traces of the Scores Gentlemen's Club are now disappearing from downtown Springfield.
The Worthington Street club was the site of the massive natural gas explosion back in November, which caused damage across a several block radius.
Springfield Building Commissioner Steven Desilets told 22News that the debris from the club is being hauled away to Ohio. The rubble must be brought such a long distance because there are no sites in New England that can accommodate such demolition debris.
The rubble from the club had remained on the side of the street through the winter and into the spring. Desilets said that city officials had to get final clearance from the gas and insurance companies before they could remove the remaining debris.
Twenty-five people were injured and some 45 buildings had sustained damage in the November 23 explosion.
