CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Western Massachusetts health departments may soon be able to stop mosquito breeding at the source.
Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonette expects state lawmakers to lift the ban on using pesticide pellets in storm drains.
The legislature imposed the ban in 2009.
Mayor Bissonette's concerned about West Nile Virus this summer.
People 22News spoke with said they're also concerned, "I guess there's been some cases in the eastern part of the state. So I think anything we can do in the water supply that will kill the larvae," Explained Elaine Sapong of Chicopee.
Health officials have said Mosquito breeding has already begun here in Western Massachusetts.
