LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - The founder of the Lupa Zoo has passed away.
Henry Lupa died on Monday, at the age of 66. Lupa, who came to the United States from Poland, loved animals and it was always his to dream to open a zoo. In 1996, he founded the Lupa Zoo on Nash Hill Road in Ludlow.
Some people say when they heard he passed, they decided to go see the animals in his memory. Timothy Hnatow of Three Rivers brought his son to the zoo Thursday.
"I just thought it would be cool to come here today," Hnatow said. "He just loves the animals and thinks it's really fun and likes the little quarter rides over there it's pretty cool."
