It's going to cost Massachusetts roughly $13 billion over the next ten years to improve and maintain the state's transportation network; and you may soon have to help pay for it.
Governor Patrick announced a wide a range options that could help the MassDOT raise money for the improvements--which involve our streets, highways, bridges and public transit.
- Option #1: Raise gas taxes from 21 cents to 30 cents.
- Option #2: Increase income taxes to 5.66%.
- Option #3: Raise the state sales tax from 6.25% to 7.75%.
