SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Senate Candidate Edward Markey went on a tour of Western Mass on Sunday.
He stopped in Greenfield and Northampton, before 22News caught up with him in Springfield.
It was Markey's first time back in the western part of the state since winning the primary and he brought a little star power with him in the form of singer / songwriter Carole King.
Markey is facing Republican Gabriel Gomez in the general election.
Markey and Gomez have been sparring over the role of outside money in political campaigns.
Markey has criticized Gomez for refusing to sign a pledge that would limit outside campaign contributions...but according to the Federal Election Commission, it was Markey who took in more than 545,000 dollars from the League of Conservation voters.
22News asked Markey to comment, "Everyone knows every person who has ever given me a contribution. Everyone knows how much every person has ever given me. Gabriel Gomez is willing to accept an unlimited amount of undisclosed money."
Voters will head to the polls to choose between Markey and Gomez on June 25th.
