The event provides some insight into jobs that would be available if MGM built a casino in Springfield. People who were interested in career opportunities were able to learn about the different jobs that could be available.
MGM has proposed an 800 million dollar world class casino to be built in the downtown Springfield area.
According to Kelley Tucky, the VP of Public & Community Affairs for MGM Resorts International, "Springfield attracted us for a number of reasons, but jobs are important to Springfield. We will bring three thousand jobs, permanent jobs, 2 thousand construction jobs and we plan to hire locally."
Todd Hankins told 22News, "I think it will help out the community, I think it will be, we'll be able to give, people like myself, homeless veterans, as well Springfield has a high crime rate, I think it will help with that in reference to getting people back started, getting people jobs."
MGM Springfield is proposed for some 14 acres of land between Union and State Streets, and Columbus Avenue and Main Street.
