PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - Mohegan Sun is proposing a water park and a second hotel as part of their Palmer resort casino plan, bringing the investment into their project up to nearly $1 billion, the company announced Friday.
According to a news release sent to 22News, they are planning a 70,000 square-foot "family-oriented water entertainment park." The indoor/outdoor water park would include zip lining and kayaking, among other activities. The park would be connected to a 250-room hotel that would be set away from the main 300-room hotel and casino complex.
Mohegan also recently announced that their proposal would include a 300,000 square-foot shopping center.
Mohegan Sun is competing for western Massachusetts' sole casino license with MGM, which proposes a resort in Springfield's South End and Hard Rock International, which hopes to build in West Springfield.
