MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) - The first snowfall of the season turned out to be way more than a few flakes in some places.
Spotters for the National Weather Service reported up to seven and a half inches of snow in Monson.
A blanket of snow temporarily covered the area before melting, but it was residents in the southern part of town who saw the most.
According to Charles Carrington of Monson, "Six inches; I was out there using the snow blower first time of the year, brand new snow blower. I've lived in New England all my life I've seen more than this. Like nothing. This is nothing."
Southbridge saw the most significant snowfall; they woke up to just over nine inches.
