EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - East Longmeadow's planning board is cracking down on violations of its zoning laws. But one business in town says it's going too far.
The town adopted a new bylaw requiring all massage therapy establishments apply for a special permit. The change was aimed at preventing illegal activity at massage parlors.
Ginnie Levine owns Be Here Now Therapeutic Massage. She told 22News she applied for the special permit. She received a letter this week stating there had been an error in her application when she opened up her business in 2010 and she needed to move out of a commercial district.
"I was totally in the dark about the fact that I shouldn't be practicing in a commercial district," said Levine. "And if not in a commercial district then where?"
The East Longmeadow Planning Board referred us to the Building Commissioner who has not returned our calls.
Levine is expected to meet with the board again on January 29th.
