SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield License Commission wants bar owners to call for backup if a fight starts.
At their meeting Thursday night, commissioners proposed a new rule requiring managers and owners call police even if there are already officers present.
Peter Sygnator says, "It appears that a bar manager may decide that since there are police there already that they are already in control and that may not be the case."
Under the proposal, there would be a penalty if police are not called.
