SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - People who have jobs are working harder because of a lack of skilled workers to fill vacant positions.
A new Career Builder survey found 40% of employers can't find qualified candidates for open positions.
One third said those vacancies lead to overworked staffers who are in turn providing a lower quality of work.
Futureworks Career Center has seen this problem in western Massachusetts, and say it's slowly pushing employers to offer more training.
Kevin Lynn of Futureworks Career Center told 22News, "You look at many employers are now starting to begin maybe growing their own and training their own, training people up to the skills because you're not finding them by placing an ad."
Still, the survey found nearly two-thirds of job seekers knowingly apply for positions they're not trained for.
