SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police have made preparations for an Occupy protest to come to Springfield on Monday.
Court Street and Pynchon Street are currently closed to vehicle traffic until further notice. Police are blocking the street in anticipation of the protest starting around City Hall. 22News arrived at the protest Monday morning, where there were about a half dozen people holding signs on Court Square.
Court and Pynchon Streets are closed their entire length, which is from Main Street to East Columbus Avenue.
Protests showcasing anger with Wall Street and wealthy interests began weeks ago with the original Occupy Wall Street protest, and have since spread to cities around the country, including Boston and Hartford. Over the weekend, they spread to cities outside the United States.
