WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There are times when school budgets don't go far enough to need the student's needs.
The money raised from this craft fair at Westfield Vocational High School will eventually go back into the school. It's one of many project sponsored by Westfield Voke's parent volunteer organization.
"We dedicate this for the kids. I don't have any kids at the Voke, but I support my local school. My kids went to Voke, they graduated and they're professionals now," Jamaries Ruiz told 22News.
These parent volunteers say they believe their responsibilities extend to helping the schools their children attend.
One mom told 22News she's proud of that parental track record assisting the schools.
"We provided floor covering for the gymnasium floor to protect it. We have a nice banner that promotes vocational school week," Christine Oscella said.
Their children may have graduated from the vocational high school years ago, but the parent volunteers still feel a closeness to the school they affectionately call Westfield Voke.
As one parent told 22News, it's their responsibility to help provide whatever the school needs to educate the current generation of students.
