SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The body of 54-year-old Charles Gamache of Springfield was found Monday night in the Pine Point section of the city.
Springfield Police Capt. Peter Dillon told 22News the victim's body was found around 10:00 P.M. on 42 Pioneer Way with several stab wounds. No arrests have yet been made in the killing.
Pioneer Way is located in the Boston Road Mobile Home Park, of which police say Gamache was a resident.
Mobile home park President Joe D'Angelis told 22News that it is an area that has had some problems recently.
"I think it's time for Springfield to realize we need more help in this park. Clean out the drug addicts and the bad elements," D'Angelis said.
Another man, who has been a resident of the park for the last 20 years, told 22News that there have been a couple problems in the park in the past, but nothing like what happened Monday night.
Neighbor Cheryl Roda said that Gamache had always been nice to her.
"Totally shocked. This is a quiet neighborhood. We never had any problems, at least at this end of the park," Roda said. "I still feel safe. I don't know if this is a random thing or domestic. I have no idea."
Gamache's killing marks the fourth homicide of 2012 in the city of Springfield.
