HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Holyoke Police closed off several blocks of the city's Churchill section while they investigate a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Wednesday night.
Holyoke Police Sgt. Philip McKay told 22News, "Police received a call of shots fired in an alley between Walnut and Pine Streets at around 9:30 pm. When they got there they found a shooting victim who was rushed to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield."
Sgt McKay had no information about the victim except to say that it was a male who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. No one has been arrested.
Several blocks of the city's Churchill section are blocked off with police caution tape. Sgt. McKay did not know how long traffic would be restricted in that area. He said the Holyoke Police Detective Bureau and State Police Detectives attached to the Hampden County District Attorney's office were called in as well.
22News has a crew in the area, and will provide updates on WWLP.com, and 22News after the Bruins game.
