SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Schools are supposed to control its students. Referees are supposed to control the coaches, but no one is there to police the parents.
Two weeks ago, it was a laser pointer , as a man from Winthrop was arrested for disturbing the peace during his daughter's high school hockey playoff game.
22News asked parents of local athletes what can be done to keep some parents in check at their kids' games. "Parents have to be responsible. I feel for the children that were there. I feel very badly that they witnessed this and that they had to be a part of it," said Sue Orsini of Holyoke, "it's just not right. It ruined their moment."
"Parents get excited for these games. If you lose you feel bad, but that is about it. There's nothing we can do," said James Yates.
After last Friday's incident in Springfield, the CYO developed a new code of conduct for parents.
