WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A nostalgic ceremony was held late Saturday afternoon at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield.
The re-dedication of the F-100 Memorial, which bears the names of 12 Air National Guardsmen who died in the line of duty.
Captain Frank Gilbe of Westfield was one of them. His plane crashed and burned killing Gilbe in 1958.
His daughter spoke with 22News at the honors ceremony.
I am very honored, I am a huge fan of the 104th. My father is on the plaque of the plane.
My step father has a brick on memory lane for 20 years of service," Cathy Langolis told 22News.
The majority of the fallen airmen honored at the F-100 monument were Western Massachusetts residents.
