SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Christmas is just a few days away, and people have been getting into the spirit of the holiday by helping those who are less fortunate.
Volunteers helped prepare a hearty breakfast for people at the Springfield Rescue Mission on Bliss Street Friday morning. Local people also donated the eggs, bacon, sausage, and beverages for the meal.
Julie Barnes from Springfield Rescue Mission Community Development told 22News that the breakfast was just one of the things they are doing to help people in our area this season.
"If anyone is in need of food, we provide that in the way of meals today, and you can come down at 4:00, it's not limited by age. Anyone can come, and if you come for dinner, anyone who comes will get a box of presents. There's no limit, we don't need any ID, you don't need anything but to show up, and we'll send you some love," Barnes said.
