SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Many people asked about what kind of jobs a casino will bring if Springfield receives a gaming license.
Both developers interested in the city said they'll offer thousands of construction and permanent jobs but residents wanted to know about the quality and the benefits of those jobs.
22News spoke with Dunnunique Ahmad, a Las Vegas resident, who currently works at a casino there. He said he had the same concerns before he started his job in the housekeeping department at ARIA.
According to Ahmad, "You definitely want to be involved with a corporation that offers you an opportunity to earn a decent wage and from my experience you can maintain a decent wage. $17 an hour, pretty decent wage for someone who's in housekeeping"
Both MGM and Penn National said, in Tuesday night's presentation, 80 to 90 percent of their employees will be local, if they get a chance to build in Springfield.
