PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - What was supposed to be a night of celebration, turned tragic in Palmer.
Palmer Police Sgt. Christopher Burns told 22News, a 28 year old woman was killed on Route 32 / Ware Street, in the area of the Thorndike Rug Mills.
She was riding a motorcycle. It collided head-on with a car.
The force of the impact was so great, the motorcycle shattered into pieces.
22News got there just as the twisted piece of metal was being loaded onto a truck.
The accident closed a quarter-mile stretch of Route 32 for four hours.
Sgt. Burns told 22News the woman was wearing her helmet, and that speed was not a factor in the crash.
Nobody in the other vehicle was hurt and so far, no charges have been filed.
When asked if charges are expected, Sgt. Burns would only say, "The accident is under investigation."
On Thursday afternoon, police revealed the the victim of the crash was 28 year-old Lynn Paydos of Ware.
The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash.
