WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Friends and family gathered in Springfield Saturday night to honor the memory of 42-year-old Sheila Wheeler.
The mother of two was killed late Thursday night after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing Memorial Ave in West Springfield.
Sheila's husband Kyle spoke exclusively to 22News Saturday night during a benefit organized by members of Springfield's biker community. He said Sheila was perhaps best known for her selfless generosity.
Kyle shared one of his favorite memories of his late wife, when Sheila gave birth to their daughter. "As much pain as she was in, about to give birth, she was worried more about me crying and sweating and how I was feeling and how I was, than herself. It just shows what kind of person she was."
West Springfield police are still investigating the tragic accident.
There's no word yet on whether the driver that struck Sheila will be charged.
