CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Special U.S. Senate Election is still more than two months away, but some voters are already looking forward to the Election Day.
Both the Republican and Democratic Primaries will be held on April 30th. The three Republican Candidates seeking the Senate seat are Dan Winslow, Michael Sullivan, and Gabriel Gomez. The Democratic Candidates are Stephen Lynch and Edward Markey.
The special election will be held on June 25th, and because the election will fill John Kerry's former Senate seat, it's of a special interest to voters here in western Massachusetts.
Louise Kelly of Wilbraham told 22News, "It is important to have our best representatives in the Senate. I'll be following it very closely. I think we definitely have to be good citizens, and it's our chance to make a statement."
The deadline to register to vote in the primaries is April 10th, Wednesday. If you have moved to a different community, you must register again to vote.
