SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Casino host agreement negotiations in Springfield will not begin until February 11th. That's when Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno will announce which developer will move on to the next phase.
However, the Casino Site Committee is already talking about what they would like to see in an agreement.
Friday, they talked about requiring the chosen developer to hire at least half of its casino workers locally. The committee said the public can make suggestions too.
Casino Site Committee Chairperson, Paula Meara, told 22News, "Whether they turn out to be ideas that can be incorporated, or ideas that are already there, I think it's terrific that the public and this committee can have some input."
The Site Committee will make a list of what they want in a host agreement and pass it on to the City Council.
The Council will then make recommendations to the mayor.
