SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - What began as a suspicious package at a Springfield home turned out to be a cassette player and some wires.
Shortly after 7:00 Thursday morning, Springfield Firefighters and the Arson & Bomb Squad went to 88 Senator Street in the city's Sixteen Acres neighborhood, following a report of the package outside the house.
Dennis Leger, Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that several houses in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to determine just what was inside.
In addition to the electronic items, some personal papers were also found in the package.
