SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - 55-year-old Charles Allen of Springfield was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court for defrauding the Social Security Administration .
According to the U.S. District Attorney's office , from approximately June 1, 2003 through August 31, 2010, Allen received approximately $89,000 in fraudulently disability benefits.
Allen was not entitled to receive these benefits because he was also working as the manager of a restaurant at the time.
Also, on June 21, 2010, Allen stated falsely on a SSA form that he had not worked since January 29, 1999.
Allen must serve two years of probation and pay $97,012 in restitution to the Social Security Administration.
