SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield officials are working together in an effort to minimize repeat criminal offenders.
District Court Judges, District Attorney Mark Mastroianni, and other safety officials met with Mayor Dominic Sarno Tuesday to discuss methods of crime prevention.
Mayor Sarno spoke with 22News about the urgency of the issue. "We've found a number of times on our hotlists, that these individuals have been arrested priory, but yet are out on the streets again, and then are perpetrating other negative crimes which affects my neighborhoods, and my residents deserve better."
Mayor Sarno also told 22News that the group strategized on improving bail setting and sentencing, to prevent those repeat scenarios.
