(WWLP) - One of our state's lawmakers has come up with an idea to help cities and towns boost their already-drained snow removal budgets.
Rep. John Bineinda (D-Worcester) wants to the state to make a $2 scratch ticket whose proceeds will go to a statewide snow removal fund.
He suggested calling the ticket the "Snow Bank" Lottery.
Some western Massachusetts residents told 22News that they like the idea.
"I'd probably be more likely to buy a lottery ticket where I know my money is going to something useful," Kelly Griffith of East Longmeadow said. "I think it's a really creative way to get extra money for snow removal. This is clearly a problem."
Bineinda believes that the fund could really help smaller towns that often blow through their snow removal budgets quickly and have to tap into other areas during the harsh winters.
