HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The so called, "Super bug" is spreading in hospitals across the country.
The super bug is a deadly bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics.
So far, 42 states, including Massachusetts have reported cases.
The infections have been contained to hospitals and nursing homes, infecting the severely ill.
Holyoke Medical Center's Pharmacy Director told 22News they haven't had any cases, but they are monitoring it.
"We do susceptibilities for all the folks who come in here if they have infections, if we have something come up that's not susceptible to any of our antibiotics then we would know we had a problem," David Gamblin, Pharmacy Director at the Holyoke medical Center said.
Gamblin says the infection is rare, but a good way to prevent it is to wash your hands.
