SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspicious package scare Friday at Southwick-Tolland Regional High School was caused by a medical bag.
Southwick Police Sgt. Rhett Bannish told 22News that police were called to the school after the bag was found Friday evening.
Bannish said that the bag turned out to be left over from a sports team, and was not a threat to anyone.
There have been several suspicious package calls in western Massachusetts in the week following the bombings at the Boston Marathon. The Agawam Post Office was evacuated on Thursday morning after a leaking package was found there. The substance turned out to have been leaking a cleaning fluid.
In Hadley on Wednesday, police had blocked-off an area near Westgate Center Drive , after a bag containing packaging foam was found outside a credit union. Earlier the same day in Springfield, the bomb squad was called-in to evaluate a metal container that was found in a residential neighborhood.
