WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Families flocked to the Big E on the final weekend of the famed fall fair.
22News visited the Eastern States Exposition Grounds to see how people were enjoying their time.
A beautiful Saturday meant long lines at the gates. People eagerly waiting for their turn to get in. And once inside, they had decisions to make.
“We like to look at the animals. The alpacas. We like to watch when they sheer the lambs,” said Kathleen Lynch of Blandford.
Lots to do. Walk the Avenue of the States, The Storrowtown Beer Garden, the rides, the food, the Better Living Center and those signature Big E cream puffs.
It's no wonder the Big E keeps people coming back year after year.
“Nothing compares to this. It's crazy big. The streets are paved and there's something for everybody and you can eat whatever you want you can’t do whatever you want. There's bathrooms. You can't beat it,” said Jennifer of New Milford, CT.
And some people told 22News they even come multiple times during the same year.
“This is my wife and my 24th year together. We've been coming since 1989. We usually come a couple times a year. It's just great to be here, the weather is great. People are friendly. People are happy. It's nice to see. It's a great tradition,” said Andy Allen of Southwick.
Saturday at the Big E was dedicated to the state of Maine, with special booths in front of the Maine building, and of course lots of people shelling out money for that Maine baked potato.
Sunday marks the final day of the Big E.
