WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A dental clinic for special needs patients of all ages has opened in West Springfield.
Dental assistant Carli Bennett told 22News, the physically and developmentally disabled men, women and children get more than just good dental care.
“We give them a lot of time; we don't rush,” said Bennett. “We understand they may not be able to see or hear, give them confidence, and they kind of feed off that.”
“We try to make them feel like they're just like everyone else,” said dental assistant Kathleen Pease. “Trying to address their problems to them and work with them as much as possible.”
The West Springfield Tufts Dental Facility is one of eight Tufts University operates throughout Massachusetts. The clinics serve 9,000 special needs patients.
