HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A group of protestors gathered outside Mayor Alex Morse's office at Holyoke City Hall, as the mayor discussed plans for a resort casino at Mountain Park.
Morse's news conference was punctuated at times with the shouts of protestors, unhappy with the mayor who ran on an anti-casino platform in 2011.
One demonstrator called the Mayor a "coward," while another yelled that he is "disappointed" in Morse.
Morse says that he is still opposed to casino gambling in principle, but it will become a reality in western Massachusetts, and that a downtown Springfield site would have a "severe" impact on Holyoke's businesses.
