SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Typically furloughed federal workers will go back to work the next business day after President Obama signs the deal.
The Office of Personnel Management handbook says their website will be updated, telling workers to go back to work, once the deal is signed into law.
Agencies can also let their employees know by emailing them on their personal email addresses.
Hundreds of thousands of federal employees either stayed home or worked without pay during the 16-day government shutdown.
Furloughed workers will receive back pay for hours they missed during the shutdown.
A relief for many here in western Massachusetts, but few were surprised a deal came at the 11th hour.
"I wasn't shocked that this happened because usually when it happens it ends with nothing getting resolved like in the 90's,” Brian Burns of Palmer said.
