WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) - The Town of Wilbraham will celebrate its 250th anniversary Saturday with a reenactment of an automobile hill climb that took place more than a century ago.
This will be the second time in the town's history it will host a hill climb. Participating vehicles will be pre-World War I and pre-World War II cars.
"Back in the day, the 1905 race the winning car went 59 miles per hour and climbed the hill in a minute," said Joan Paris of the Wilbraham Hill Climb Reenactment Committee. "So don't be surprised at how fast these engines might be worked."
The race starts at 9 AM Saturday. Visitors are asked to get there early. The event is open to the public and the admission is free.
