SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There is still deep concern in downtown Springfield disaster zone the day after a massive gas explosion.
The Cabrini Moving Company is located a short distance across the street from the demolished Scores Club. It is unclear at this time just how much, if any damage their building sustained during the explosion. Workers there dare not go back into the building until they get the all-clear from the city.
"We need clearance from the city workers that it's safe in there, any structural damage, for our safety," said Cabrini worker Stephen Brouillard. "So we don't know at this point if there's any gas left in there."
He said that at this point he feels "Pretty nervous, I drive here six days a week and anytime I could have been driving my truck right in front of that building where it blew."
In addition to the Scores building, the UHaul Moving and Storage building directly across the street from the club was destroyed.
