NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Crack cocaine, marijuana, a stolen gun, and thousands of dollars in cash were seized during a pair of drug raids in Northampton on Monday morning, police say.
30 members of the Northampton Police Department, the Northwestern District Attorney's Anti-crime Task Force, and the Massachusetts State Police Tactical Team served two search warrants in the Florence and Leeds sections of the city during the morning hours.
Northampton Police Lt. Jody Kasper told 22News that 19-year-old Amanda Welch, 37-year-old Luis De La Rosa, and 54-year-old Norma Cardona were arrested during the search of the apartment at 260 Main Street in Leeds. The three are each facing a single charge of trafficking 36-100 grams of crack cocaine.
Kasper said police found 68 grams of crack inside the apartment; an amount with a street value of $7,000. Police also found $5,000 in cash.
The second warrant resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Marilinda Morales of 491 Bridge Road in Florence. Morales was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. Police say they also found a stolen gun and ammunition in the apartment.
Lt. Kasper says the arrests followed an investigation that had lasted several months.
