EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Manhan Bridge in Easthampton will re-open in about a month which is about two months ahead of schedule.
The state Department of Transportation's press secretary Sara Lavoie told 22News the remaining work includes rebuilding sidewalks and roadways leading up to the bridge, installing bridge rails and paving.
It's welcoming news for Easthampton residents who've been using a detour since June.
Lee Baker of Easthampton told 22News, “The detour has definitely added time to going back and forth between here and Northampton and South Hadley. This will definitely make things a lot easier.
“Going on my bike I could see how bad the roadway was, and I used to worry about it. It'll be really nice to have a new one,” said Lynn Howe of Easthampton.
The official re-opening date hasn't been set yet but Lavoie said it'll be some time during the month of October.
