NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Christmas can be a tough time for those who don't have a home or family, but one organization works every year to bring the community together on this day.
Dozens of volunteers worked most of Christmas morning preparing a massive feast at Edwards Church in Northampton.
It was a meal sponsored by the Manna Soup Kitchen open to anyone looking for a place to call home for the holidays.
Crystal Labato, a volunteer from Easthampton, said, "What better way to celebrate the blessings you have than to give a little back?"
For the volunteers, many who have done this for years, there's no other place they'd rather be.
Susan Canning of Westfield said, "It's very heartwarming when I first started doing this I looked at it like I can give back but at the end of the day it's nice how much they give back to me."
The group also provides a meal for those less fortunate on Thanksgiving.
